About The Event
Join Ally Bongard to learn how to make your own fermented foods and boost your overall health. You will find this workshop particularly useful if you're experiencing bloating, IBS symptoms, sugar cravings, tiredness, anxiety, poor immunity or if you suffer from a chronic disease.
The ancient art of fermenting not only makes foods more nutritious and delicious, it is also the easiest way to boost your beneficial gut bacteria on a daily basis. In recent years, numerous studies have confirmed what many cultures have always known: that fermented foods help people stay healthy and live longer.
In this hands-on class, Ally will cover the physical and mental health benefits of consuming fermented foods and guide you in making your own delicious sauerkraut. She will also demonstrate how to make kimchi, a low to no-maintenance kefir and a first ferment of kombucha.
We’ll provide the raw materials, some fermented goodies for you to taste on the day and the confidence to get you started. Bring along the following kitchen basics as well as your enthusiasm!
You bring: your favourite large knife, chopping board, biggest mixing bowl, apron and a clean tea towel for making the sauerkraut.
You will take home: your own sauerkraut in a fermenting jar complete with a modern silicon fermenting lid, some maintenance free kefir starter, a kombucha scoby and Ally's 30 page fermentation guide, including other great recipes to try out at home.
Your instructor: Ally is a Bachelor Qualified Nutritional Medicine practitioner who is extremely passionate about helping people take charge of their health. This led to her running classes to people from all walks of life for the Jamie Oliver’s Ministry of Food Program and working alongside FMTV presenter, Ashley Jubinville – The Kitchen Coach. Recently she returned to Tasmania and is a practitioner at Learn to Nourish in Hobart and runs extremely popular workshops around the state.
